Nilo Peraldo Bert was born at Graham (Virginia, US, now Bluefield) in the U.S.A., on 14 June 1915. He was a student of Mo Carlo Palladino. In the second half of the Forties he published his first editions for Bčrben: Danza (1947), Idillio Pastorale (1948) and Zingaresca (1949). In 1955 his Sarabanda for two guitars was printed in The Guitar Review (New York) and another Danza was published in 1962. During early '70, thanks to the editions cured by Angelo Gilardino of two interesting works for guitar (Due Improvvisi and Omaggio a Charlie Christian), Peraldo Bert had a major fame in the guitar sphere. In the following years he sperimented new possibilities of guitar, Peraldo Bert composed much chamber music for guitar, only partly published by Italian and American publishers. In his works Peraldo Bert employs a refined personal language which is drawn from the American musical popular repertory with explicit jazz movences and European where the influences of the impressionistic spirit can be easily found. An exemples of these compositive caracteristics we can trace in his last works: the 'Spain from America' Suite for guitar solo (dedicated to Giovanni Podera who cured the fingering) and the 'Suite no. 16 op. 36 on South-American Themes' written for the Trio Chitarristico Donizetti of Bergamo (A. Marinoni, M. Mancini e G. Podera) who edited the music. Guitar Works by Nilo Peraldo Bert
