Maria Rita Brondi (1889-1941) was a guitar performer, singer, composer and one of the first guitar historians in Italy. She was a pupil of late Luigi Mozzani and F. Tàrrega (who dedicated her a Minuetto, published by the Italian guitar magazine "Il Plettro"). She was renowned for her use of long fingernails and a metallic artificial nail for her thumb (see the entry "fingernails" in the Diccionario by D. Prat). Her search in the field of guitar history bear fruit with the entries "Lute" and "Guitar" in the celebrated Italian encyclopedia Treccani and the book "Lute and guitar" (see biblio). Among her works are notably the folk melody and medley as the Melodia del Sannio and a Study, published by Chiappino (Turin), and presumably some other few pages as "Romance au rouet" (for voice and guitar) which are unknow.
