Database of XXth Century Italian Guitar Music

The Data-Base of XXth Century Italian Guitar Music is an alfabetically ordered list of the most relevant compositions written in this century for guitar solo and ensemble (click on the upper letters to enter it). With Guitar we mean any "classically" treated guitar with 6 or more strings and even the electric one. The works for plectrum guitar or finger-picking guitar are not included in this list. The list itself is a contribution to the knowledge of the composers of Italian origin or naturalized Italian, also living abroad, who have composed music for our instrument. No attempt has been made to be complete. The works of composers-guitarists as L. Mozzani, C. Lenzi Mozzani, B. Terzi, B. Di Ponio can be found in their homepages, so also as composer like M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco and A. Gilardino, cured by and also the other Home Pages of Italian artists, who will wish to appear in this list.

     The data are extracted from the book POCCI '98 - Guida al Repertorio della chitarra nel Novecento (Guide to the guitar repertory in the 20th-Century, 1998), compiled by Dott. Vincenzo Pocci, the volume can be requested directly to him.

     Each record is inserted with Title, Year of composition if known, ensemble in simple bracket if different from guitar solo, and Edition if exists or inedited if not yet published. For more insights, please, refer to the following list of abbreviations.
